Aim of the Course

The course is aimed at anyone whose job requires them to work at height and use any work equipment to carry this out safely.  The course is intended to provide the candidate with the legislative requirements governing working at height.  The course will also outline the risks associated with working at height and why this is the biggest cause of work related deaths in the construction industry every year.

Learning Objectives

The candidate will have a strong hazard awareness and knowledge of working at height, with an understanding of collective and personal fall protection and arrest equipment.  The candidate will understand the control measures which can be implemented into their working at height activities to prevent injury to themselves and others.

  • Definition of working at height
  • Legislative requirements for working at height
  • Planning for working at height
  • What is collective fall protection
  • What is personal fall protection
  • Hierarchy of control measures
  • Selection and use of work at height equipment
  • Competencies for working at height
  • Inspection and use of equipment such as ladders, stepladders, podiums, alloy towers, scaffolding, MEWPS and safety nets.

At the end of the course the candidate will be expected to complete a short test and a certificate will be issued on completion to each candidate.
